NiceKicks.com Feature: 1 on 1 with Jordan Tattoo Enthusiast Chris Washington

Remember that Jordan tattoo that I posted a while back? Well now you can see it on NiceKicks.com. There is a full interview with Chris where he goes into depth about his tattoos, being a Jordan fan and of course.... yours truly. I posted a little excerpt here:

Nice Kicks: So, what is the origin of your tattoos? What made you want to ink your body up with nods to Michael and his extensive sneaker collection?

Chris: I basically told Derrick, my tattoo artist, what I wanted to do. I went to him and told him I wanted a Jordan tattoo. He actually thought that I just wanted a Jumpman tattoo or something like that. So, I actually broke down the idea of me wanting it to look like the Jordans are falling onto my leg. On the back of my leg, I wanted Jordan doing a dunk or a layup, and I wanted a picture of his face. Basically, he’s my idol. He’s one of the few athletes or even black entrepreneurs that you can think of and not think negative about. I’m into sneakers and that’s a big part of his game, so I needed someone that was going to detail the sneakers and make them look real. Not over-detail them, not under-detail, but make them look exactly like the sneakers.

"WHAT YOU SAY ABOUT MY MAMA?!?!" As Told By Relished Ink

Make sure you check out the rest of Relished Ink's Tumblr here: relishedink.tumblr.com
"
First thing first I’m Terrell “Relished Ink” Middlebrooks, the son of Cheryl Smith and Samuel Middlebroooks III. Ok, so pops was there for a little and every now and then,  but that’s a whole other timeline lol. But my mother is who I have to thank today. We might not have the best relationship but I know there’s nothing I won’t do for my moms besides what I did today. But yeah. And the love I have for her will never change.
I had this thought in my head for a while now. With recent news of my mom telling me she was diagnosed with lupus after I was born, I had to put this into application. I’ve always mentioned the idea of getting a tattoo of her on my head and she always mad that squishy “no do not do it” face. Like the face when a baby does not want to eat its veggies... Anyway I had a picture that I wanted for a while, but after she told me about the lupus, I asked her if she had a favorite picture of her without mentioning the tattoo part. So I made my mind up and took it to work and actually made my first carbon of a portrait and asked Derrick to do it and it was done.

Mom there’s no words for how much I love you. I put this on my head because no matter what your always on my mind (Sounds corny but I don’t care). The head is a temple for all mental and visual treasure and I will forever remain a part of you and welcome to my temple!! You been there for me even at my worst states of life and thinking about your struggle to keep me healthy and you staying focused, I love you mom!!!
